Lecture Series

On-line Health Courses- One hour lectures on-line, real time using streaming video cam. The course content can cover most of the presentations below. Office hours for Q&A follows the one hour course with web page support and other on-line resources.

Stress Management- Overview of three components, practice one relaxation method and discuss "four requirements for better stress management." Style: Lecture/Discussion, Experiential. Includes take-home 12-page workbook. PowerPoint™ Presentation.
 
Depression- Overview of depression, signs and symptoms, depression check and where to go for help. Style: Lecture/Discussion. Handouts included. PowerPoint Presentation.
 
Weight Management- Overview the three components of a weight management program, calorie consciousness, diary management and programs that work. A review of current popular diets is included. Style: Lecture/Discussion, Experiential. Handouts included. PowerPoint Presentation.
 
Nutrition- Overview on nutrients, calories, how to read the label, how to improve your nutrient IQ. Style: Lecture/Discussion, Experiential. Handouts included. PowerPoint Presentation.
 
Cholesterol Management- Overview on the cholesterol issues/debate, the good, bad and the ugly cholesterol, fats that increase/"decrease" cholesterol, current medical practice on cholesterol management. Lecture/Discussion, Experiential. Handouts included. PowerPoint Presentation.
 
Safety- Overview on safety fundamentals, rates, how to reduce ones chances of becoming a statistic. Style: Lecture/Discussion. Handouts included. PowerPoint Presentation.
 
Exercise and Fitness- Overview on the fundamentals of fitness and exercise, current research, basics of "how to- without hurting yourself," where the best programs are, and an assessment of Exercise IQ. Style: Lecture/Discussion, Experiential. Handouts included. PowerPoint Presentation.
 
Self-Defense- Overview on the fundamentals of self-defense techniques. Emphasis on attitude change. Style: Practice/Experiential. Handouts included.
 
Universal Precautions- Overview on fundamentals, CDC standards, and practical practices. Style: Lecture/Discussion. Handouts included. PowerPoint Presentation.
 
Communications Skills- Overview on Assertive versus Aggressive Communication styles, Listening (real listening), Fixing "Passive Aggressive Communication Styles" (i.e. the staff member who complains she can't get a word in because you're so "loud" when in reality she doesn't communicate well and you do), Body Language as Communication Style: Lecture/Discussion, Experiential. Time Management- Overview of "10 Useful Hints," "First Things First," Getting the most out of your calendar. Style: Lecture/Discussion, Experiential. Handouts included. PowerPoint Presentation.
 
Sex Education. Overview of intimacy (psychological, philosophical, creative and physical) and how it plays out in sexual harassment issues, in dealing with each other, etc. Focus will be on getting a handle on our own sexuality and associated issues (i.e. why do we drink to drunkenness?) Style: Lecture/Discussion, Experiential. Handouts included. PowerPoint Presentation is included.

Workshops:
